The contract was signed by Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Denmark’s Ørsted, the company’s jointly developing the project.

The turbines will be installed in two stages in the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea, with separate tenders conducted to select contractors for each phase.

The first installation contract was awarded to Fred Olsen Windcarrier in January.

Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup said of the new award, “The project marks a very important milestone for Poland as well as for Cadeler, as this underlines Cadeler’s strong entry into the Polish market.”

The turbines for Baltica 2 will be supplied by Siemens Gamesa, with a capacity of 14MW each. The project aims for completion by the end of 2027.

The developers have reported successfully securing all components and contracts required for Baltica 2, including the transportation and installation of monopile foundations, which will be undertaken by the Dutch maritime contracting company Van Oord.

Baltica 2, combined with the 1GW Baltica 3 project, set for delivery by 2030, will together form the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm.

With all construction permits also secured, construction will begin when the final investment decision (FID) is made.
