Implenia announces US$500m in new construction contracts
29 July 2025
Swiss contractor Implenia secured new building construction contracts valued at more than CHF 400 million (US$496 million).

The awards span several high-value projects across Switzerland and Germany, including a new university medical centre, a residential development in Zurich’s Oberland region and multiple site redevelopment and education schemes.
University of Bern taps Implenia for major research facility
The largest award is for a medical research and training centre at the University of Bern’s Inselareal campus.
The new facility will consolidate five of the university’s medical institutes into a single structure featuring laboratories, office space, and meeting rooms across seven above-ground and five underground floors.
The Canton of Bern has commissioned Implenia to deliver master builder works, with construction scheduled to begin in May 2026 and continue through July 2028.
Residential complex planned in Zurich region

In a separate contract, Seraina Investment Foundation, represented by Seraina Invest, appointed Implenia to plan and build eight apartment buildings in Oetwil am See, delivering 90 owner-occupied units along with retail space and underground parking.
The development will be constructed to the Minergie energy-efficiency standard using building information modelling (BIM), with work set to begin in summer 2025 and conclude by October 2027.
Additional contracts include schools, mixed-use redevelopment
Implenia also confirmed contracts for two large school buildings in Switzerland and Germany, as well as a major inner-city building conversion project involving retail and office space.
One additional site redevelopment contract in French-speaking Switzerland will see an old factory site transformed into a mixed-use district with residential, commercial and workplace components.
The company said all the projects align with its strategic focus on specialised and technically complex buildings.
