5 contractors vie for €1.2bn job to build Poland’s CPK airport terminal
02 September 2025

Five contractor consortia have applied to build the new passenger terminal at Poland’s Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) airport, in what is the project’s largest tender this year. The contract is worth more than PLN 5 billion (€1.2 billion).
The competitive dialogue procedure, launched in May, attracted bids from 16 companies grouped into five consortia. After assessing the submissions, CPK will invite qualified contractors to take part in further discussions, before selecting a general contractor and signing the construction contract.
“This is one of the key construction contracts for CPK Airport,” said Filip Czernicki, CPK’s chief executive. “The participation of such experienced contractors is a strong signal that the market recognises the investment’s enormous potential.”
The consortia feature major Polish firms as well as international partners, including Hochtief and Besix. Fourteen of the country’s largest construction companies are represented. “All consortia applying for dialogue admission include Polish entities,” said Dariusz Kuś, CPK board member for airport investments.
The contract is due to be signed in 2026, with piling works to begin the same year. Main construction is expected to finish in 2031, ahead of the airport’s planned opening in 2032.
The terminal, covering 450,000 sq. m, will include nearly 140 check-in and baggage counters at launch, with capacity for 34 million passengers a year in the first phase, rising to 44 million as demand grows.
Located between Warsaw and Łódź, CPK is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe. The scheme combines a new hub airport with a nationwide high-speed rail and road network, intended to ease congestion at Warsaw Chopin Airport.
Consortia applying for the contract:
- Mirbud with Adamietz, Opex, Formopex, Kobylarnia and Budpol
- Polimex Mostostal with Hochtief Polska and Hochtief Infrastructure (Germany)
- Budimex with Strabag
- NDI with NDI Sopot and Besix (Belgium)
- Porr with Korporacja Budowlana Doraco
