Hochtief to overhaul stretch of German railway in €170m deal

German infrastructure company Hochtief has won a deal to overhaul a 42km-long stretch of railway in Germany, in a €170 million contract with Deutsche Bahn.

The contractor will refurbish the double-track section of line from Wiesbaden to Lorchhausen, as well as 10 level crossings and two pedestrian underpasses.
It will also either build or convert a total of 12 train stations.
Preparatory work for the project starts this summer, before the refurbishment runs from July 2026 until December 2026.
Hochtief CEO Juan Santamaría said, “With the expansion and renewal of railways, we are making a significant contribution to improving transportation infrastructure in Germany.
“The €500 billion infrastructure investment package recently approved by the Bundestag parliament offers enormous opportunities to accelerate the modernization of the country.”
