Züblin acquires Bauer’s Austrian foundation business
21 May 2025
Züblin Spezialtiefbau, the Austrian arm of construction and engineering company Züblin (a subsidiary of Strabag), has acquired Bauer Spezialtiefbau, the Austrian subsidiary of Germany’s Bauer Spezialtiefbau.

The company said it was a “complete acquisition” of the Bauer subsidiary. Closing has already taken place, but terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Züblin’s Reinhard Kerschner, member of the group’s management board, said the move strengthens the company’s presence in Austria and expands its capabilities in specialist foundation engineering, particularly in pile construction.
Bauer Spezialtiefbau is part of the Geotechnical Solutions segment of the Bauer Group, a global provider of foundation engineering services.
Züblin Spezialtiefbau, based in Vienna, is known for its work in diaphragm walls, grouting, and groundwater drainage, and will fully integrate the acquired operations under the Züblin brand by 2026, the company said.
Bauer CEO and executive board member Peter Hingott said the company is strategically exiting the Austrian market and welcomed Züblin as a successor. “For strategic reasons, we decided not to pursue specialist foundation engineering in Austria any further and therefore looked for a good solution for our company and the people,” Hingott said. “We have found this with Züblin and wish the team every success for the future.”
