Now that excavation on the 1.2km-long twin tunnel is complete, Webuild will work to complete the lining of the tunnel using concrete and pre-cast concrete sections in a process expected to take until the end of the year.

Megalot 3 is the main intervention along the Calabria section of the Jonica Trunk Road. It is strategic for connecting the Ionian Sea coasts of Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia. When finished, it will connect the A14 and A2 motorway axis.

Megalot 3 of the Ionian Trunk Road (SS 106) involves the construction of a two-lane section of road, 38km in length. It includes 5km of ‘natural’ tunnels, 5km of artificial tunnels and 7km of viaducts.

The project began in May 2020 and is set for completion in August 2026.
