Bosnia and Herzegovina’s state-owned motorway operator, Autoceste FBiH, has announced the relaunch of a €150 million (US$163.2 million) tender for the construction of a 5.25km section of motorway in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project includes the construction of the 2.6km-long Kvanj twin tunnel and the road section is set to run from the tunnel entrance to the village of Buna, as part of a multi-billion-euro motorway construction programme, known as Corridor Vc.

Interested parties have been asked to submit their offers until April 2, for the project, which is expected to run for approximately 30 months.

Three-times-cancelled tender

The financing for the project will come from a European Investment Bank (EIB) loan, plus a grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The tender has been beset with problems, having originally been published in 2019. It was cancelled in April 2022 and August 2022, then again in late 2023, after exceeding the 12-month validity period stipulated in the initial call for submissions.

Corridor Vc spans a length of 700 km, connecting the port of Ploce in Croatia to Budapest in Hungary, with a stretch of approximately 340 km running through Bosnia.
