That is according to a filing from Tutor Perini, which said the joint venture is in the process of executing contract documents after announcing in November 2024 that it was in pole position for the deal.
The new jail will be one of four to replace New York City’s infamous Rikers Island Jail Complex. The new Manhattan facility will contain 1,040 beds and provide 125 accessory parking spaces for all staff and service providers. There will also be 20,000 sq ft of community and commercial space on the ground floor.
Tutor Perini will be the managing partner, with O&G Industries as the 25% partner. Architecture firm HOK will design the facility.
In 2023, Tutor Perini won a $3 billion contract to design and build another of the four new jails, in Brooklyn.
The contract value was added to the company’s backlog in the fourth quarter of 2024.
