The challenges for BIM in construction

Premium Content

Intergeo 2022 showcased a wide variety of geotechnologies, with more exhibitors than ever before demonstrating innovations for the construction industry.

Mike Hayes (right) discusses BIM at Intergeo, with (from left to right) Lutz Bettels of Bentley, Ralf Mosler of Autodesk and Dietmar Bernert of Trimble

BIM (building information modelling) was prominent at the show, and KHL’s Construction Technology brand hosted a three-way discussion about the tech that is at the heart of major construction projects worldwide.

Construction Europe editor Mike Hayes moderated the session, with panellists Dietmar Bernert of Hexagon, Lutz Bettels of Bentley Systems and Ralf Mosler of Autodesk.

A serious question for the panel was, after almost 30 years of BIM, why is it yet to have a major impact on construction’s productivity levels?
