Lane, the US subsidiary of Italy’s Webuild Group, has secured a $238 million contract to upgrade a 12.8km (8 miles) section of the I-75 in Marion County, Northern Florida.

Work includes auxiliary lane additions between interchanges, a new interchange at 49th Street, three interchange upgrades, one bridge replacement and two new bridges. Drainage upgrades and noise abatement measures are also included.

The project forms part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s “Moving Florida Forward” initiative.

The improvements are expected to boost capacity and evacuation safety, with projected reductions in northbound and southbound delays of 96% and 88% respectively. Construction is set to begin in early 2026 and take around three years.

This follows Lane’s recent $337m contract win for works on Interstate 85 in North Carolina.

Webuild said Lane is currently working on multiple highway projects across Florida, including I-275/I-4 in Tampa and SR 417 in Seminole County.
