Komatsu to present new midi excavator at Bauma 2025

Komatsu, a global manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, will showcase a new prototype 7.5-tonne wheeled excavator at Bauma 2025. The machine will join the PW98MR and PW138MR wheeled excavator family.

Komatsu states that the machine is versatile enough to be used in a wide range of utility and landscaping applications. It is suitable for heavy-duty lifting tasks, as well as simple excavation jobs in narrow alleys, road construction sites, and sewer construction projects.

The swing boom design allows for digging alongside buildings or barriers, while the two-piece boom provides flexibility with an extended working range.

The new 7.5-ton wheeled excavator offers a variety of features that benefit operators. It is equipped with a 49 kW Stage V compliant engine that does not require Diesel Exhaust Fluid refills.

Additionally, it has improved maneuverability in tight spaces, with an overall maximum width of 2080 mm, a short tail radius, and standard four-wheel steering, which enables the smallest turning radius in its product category.

“This new tight-tail excavator fills the gap below the mid-sized wheeled excavators, granting easy and precise operability with any attachments and the best driving experience on the roads, packed in a super compact machine perfectly sized to work in an urban environment,” says Alex Visentin, product manager for the new wheeled excavator.

The new 7.5-tonne wheeled excavator is on display at Komatsu’s booth at Bauma 2025 (Hall C6). Komatsu representatives will be available to answer questions and provide more information about the new models.
