Implenia secures major contract on German ring-road

The contract, awarded by DEGES, will see Implenia, in collaboration with Johann Bunte Bauunternehmen, constructing section 2/2 of the A 281 motorway.

The project includes the expansion of a 1.7 km stretch of the motorway bypass, connecting the existing A 281 section to the A 1 motorway via the Arsten feeder.

The joint-venture contract also includes the construction of various crucial components, including a 400m elevated section supported by a prestressed concrete bridge.

Additionally, support walls with bored pile foundations will be erected to accommodate the motorway leading up to the bridge.

Other elements of the project include a 290m-long cutting, an entrance area for a prospective tunnel under the Kattenturmer Heerstrasse, and approximately 1km of four-lane motorway.

Work is scheduled to commence in May 2024, with the anticipated completion date set for early 2029, and Implenia says it will be using lean construction methods to ensure efficiency and timely completion.
