Eurobridge 2025 to highlight bridge maintenance and safety

The fourth edition of Eurobridge, an international conference dedicated to bridge safety and durability, will take place on 11 April 2025 in Brussels, Belgium.

The annual event brings together experts and infrastructure managers to discuss maintenance, structural reinforcement, and best practices for preserving critical infrastructure.

Christian Tridon, chairman of the FIEC structural maintenance group, emphasised the importance of proactive maintenance, warning that even in seemingly stable conditions, infrastructure ages and requires constant attention. “When we say that the sea is calm, this doesn’t mean that a storm is brewing. Bridges, like tunnels, must adapt constantly to meet their expected performance,” he said.

Tridon highlighted the significant social and economic consequences of structural failures, citing examples across Europe and beyond where neglect led to costly disruptions. “It is our duty to do whatever is possible to raise awareness among infrastructure managers on the need to maintain and reinforce these structures,” he added.

This year’s Eurobridge will provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and sharing innovations in bridge maintenance. The newly launched conference website includes updated programme details and registration information, which is now open.

With bridges forming vital components of road, rail, and waterway networks, the conference underscores the need for continuous investment and vigilance to ensure these structures meet their performance demands.
