Stefano Pampalone, president Construction at CNH, and Young-Cheul Cho, President and CEO of HD Hyundai XiteSolution (HDX), signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the CES show in Las Vegas which will see the two companies establish a new research centre in the United States.

CNH and HDX say the aim of the CE Innovation Lab is to fast-track the development of cutting-edge technologies for the construction industry’s customers.

Technology specialists from both CNH and HDX will staff the lab to explore emerging technology trends, including automation and Artificial Intelligence, as well as to assess evolving customer needs and identify opportunities for portfolio enhancements and growth.

The agreement sees cooperation between two of the biggest construction equipment businesses in the world. CNH owns the Case and New Holland Construction brands, and HDX is a subsidiary of HD Hyundai, which owns HD Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE) and HD Hyundai Infracore (HDI), which use the Hyundai and Develon brands, respectively. HDX was formed in 2021 to create synergies between HCE and HDI.

Sharing knowledge and technology

As part of the collaboration, HDX will supply CNH with its patented AAVM+ (Advanced Around View Monitoring Plus) 360-degree camera and radar system. CNH will provide HDX with Global Navigation Satellite System technologies through its Hemisphere brand.

Looking ahead, the two companies expect to expand their collaboration within the research centre to include the co-development of new technologies and co-investment in innovative start-ups through their respective venture divisions.

Stefano Pampalone, president of construction at CNH, said, “We are excited to expand our collaboration with HDX. This joint effort will strengthen our commitment to growing CNH’s construction business and position both our companies as tech authorities in the industry.”

Young-Cheul Cho, president and CEO of HDX and Hyundai Infracore, said, “It is highly encouraging that our partnership has extended beyond our product collaboration to include future technologies, a crucial factor to remain at the forefront of the construction equipment market. We look forward to working together even more closely to lead the way in the market.”
