Greece’s tallest building hits major milestone

Greece’s first skyscraper and what will be the tallest building in the country when complete is said to have reached the halfway point of its construction.

Riviera Tower has now seen 25 floors completed and stands at approximately 113m high. When completed it will be 200m tall. It is being built by the contractors Bouygues Batiment International and Intrakat, in a joint venture.
Developed by LAMDA Development and designed by architectural firm, Foster + Partners, Riviera Tower will house 169 residences across 50 floors, including one- to five-bedroom apartments and penthouses, all featuring views of the Athenian Riviera.
The tower is said to be being built with sustainability in mind. According to the building’s developers, Riviera Tower achieves an 86% reduction in primary energy consumption compared to conventional buildings and is 30% more energy efficient than the average new construction in Greece, thanks to renewable energy systems, smart lighting, and automation.
Construction remains on track for completion in Q1, 2026.
The tower is part of The Ellinikon – said to be Europe’s largest urban regeneration project, located just outside Athens.
Costing a total of €8.5 billion (US$9.9 billion) and covering an area of around 6.2 million square meters the project will combine thousands of permanent residences, shopping centers, and a commercial hub, all built surrounding a 600-acre public park.
