Webuild posts 22% revenue rise as global demand for infrastructure grows

Italy-based Webuild has revealed that its revenues for the first half of the year increased by 22% to €6.7 billion (US$7.8 billion) compared to the first half of 2024, citing a strong construction market that was being driven by megatrends such as the low-carbon economy, energy security, population growth, and urbanisation.

Italy’s largest engineering and general contractor revealed that new orders acquired since the beginning of the year amounted to €6.5 billion (US$7.6 billion), exceeding 50% of the full-year target, and that this was achieved through orders all around the world.

The group highlighted some orders of strategic infrastructure such as the Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Australia; the extension of Line C of the Rome Metro in Italy; the construction of a cultural and commercial hub in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia; and the extension and modernisation of Interstate 85 in North Carolina in the US.

Webuild’s order backlog exceeds €58 billion (US$68 billion), of which approximately €50 billion (US$58 billion) refers to construction activities.

The commercial pipeline, totalling around €85 billion (US$99 billion), is said to be supported by significant investments in strategic infrastructure for the transition to a low-carbon economy, energy security, population growth, and urbanisation.

Webuild added that it also had more than €37 billion (US$43 billion) in tenders awaiting outcomes or to be submitted.

The company added that, “The strong results achieved in the first half of the year, the quality of the order backlog, and the visibility that it provides together with a global market rich in opportunities, enable Webuild to confirm another year of strong, sustainable growth and to confirm its targets for 2025, which were recently revised upwards in respect to the 2023-2025 Business Plan.”
