The motorway will span from Chau Doc City on the Cambodian border to the port of Tran De, situated on the South China Sea. The six lane project will cost a total of US$1.9 billion and will be funded by both the central and provincial governments.

The ceremony was attended by Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, who emphasized that the expressway would serve as a crucial axis connecting the region with the national expressway system.

He further highlighted the government’s plan to establish six expressways throughout the delta, facilitating connectivity between economic hubs, international border crossings, and seaports.

The project is divided into four sub-projects, each managed by the respective People’s Committees of Soc Trang, Hau Giang, An Giang provinces, and Can Tho City.

The project is expected to be completed by 2026.
