US high school getting $211million makeover

Skanska, a Sweden-based multinational contracting and construction company, announced a contract amendment worth SEK 2.2 billion (US$211 million) for a high school build in Beaverton, Oregon, US.

The project includes construction of an approximately 28,000m2 (301,389 sq ft), three-storey high school rebuild on an occupied campus, said Skanska.
The work is being done as part of Beaverton School District’s rebuilding project.
“The scope of work consists of demolition of the existing high school buildings, construction of a new high school building, renovations to the sports fields, and site improvements,” added Skanska.
Construction is underway for the high school project, which was initially expected to cost $253 million. It’s part of a more than $700 million school construction plan for the district, which voters approved in 2022.
The Beaverton High construction portion is currently underway with the new school expected to open to students in 2026.
