US$435 million hospital contract for Skanska

Sweden-based contractor Skanska has received a contract from Lee Health of US$435 million for the construction of a new hospital and medical office building in Fort Myers, Florida, US.

Skanska said the project consists of constructing an approximately 38,600m2, five-storey hospital, a central energy plant, and a 11,600m2 medical office building, which includes an ambulatory surgery centre. In total, the footprint will measure 52,000m2.

The scope includes building more than a dozen operating rooms, rehabilitation a gymnasium and specialty clinics for orthopaedics, spine, rheumatology care and infectious diseases.

The contractor said utility construction is underway and completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.
