Dr. Hans Peter Haselsteiner previously served as CEO and then was on the Management Board in an advisory capacity as Authorised Representative. Klemens Haselsteiner was his son.

The foundation Haselsteiner Familien-Privatstiftung currently holds 30.7% of the shares of Strabag SE.

Strabag says that its Supervisory Board has already begun deliberating on a successor for the position of CEO.

Until this position is filled, the remaining members of the Management Board will assume the responsibilities previously held by Klemens Haselsteiner.

Klemens Haselsteiner took office on 1 January 2020 and initiated one of the most sweeping transformation processes in the company’s history, laying the groundwork for more sustainability, innovation and resilience. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.

Kerstin Gelbmann, Chairwoman of the Strabag SE Supervisory Board said on 18 January 2025, “Some news are so unbelievable that you can’t believe it and don’t want to believe it. We received such news yesterday with the sudden death of Klemens Haselsteiner.

“On behalf of the Supervisory Board of STRABAG SE, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family. We also extend our sympathy to all STRABAG employees, whom Klemens Haselsteiner regarded as his extended family.”
