VISIONLINK® PRODUCTIVITY – THE POWER OF KNOWING MORE

05 November 2024

The more you know, the better your operations

PT Bintang Sukses Energi is a mining and earthmoving contractor in South Sumatera, Indonesia. As the primary contractor for BSL Coal Mine, they’re paid for the amount of material their fleet moves, so they need to operate efficiently every day while tracking payload accurately. To achieve this, they must have clear visibility of their overall fleet productivity – especially since PT Bintang Sukses Energi’s head office is 735km from the jobsite. They found the visibility they need with VisionLink® Productivity.

VisionLink Productivity is a cloud-based fleet management platform that provides high-level jobsite visibility, allowing you to keep track of operations and maximise efficiencies. It can monitor payload, cycle times, site zones, operator shifts and more.

A more efficient measuring system

Before VisionLink Productivity, the amount of material moved on the jobsite was measured manually. Now, with its payload monitoring feature, VisionLink Productivity monitors this automatically. As PT Bintang Sukses Energi Project Manager Suparjono explains, ‘VisionLink Productivity provides near-real-time information. In the past, our surveyor calculated how much material had been moved that day and then consolidated this at the end of the month for billing purposes. Now, in a single day, we can monitor the results of all production units.’

PT Bintang Sukses Energi are also able to submit the data from VisionLink Productivity to the mining operator for billing purposes.

Connecting office and jobsite

While the fleet works in South Sumatera, PT Bintang Sukses Energi’s head office is in Tangerang, 735km away. With VisionLink Productivity remotely accessible to them via their internet connection, the team in Tangerang stays in the know with near-real-time data from the jobsite at their fingertips. Suparjono explains that VisionLink Productivity data helps management analyse problems and be more effective in supporting operations.

Keeping up with the tech race

Technology is playing a bigger part in mining and earthmoving than ever before. How well businesses embrace and use that technology will play a major part in how profitable they are. Commercial Caterpillar Consultant Michael Miller explains, ‘Businesses are transitioning from manual processes to a more efficient system, so maximising machine and jobsite efficiency is crucial’.

By delivering actionable insights, VisionLink Productivity helps businesses to:

  • improve site productivity
  • lower cost per tonne
  • improve fleet utilisation
  • lower fleet costs
  • decrease idle time
  • reduce fuel burn

Technology is essential now and will become even more important in the future.’ PT Bintang Sukses Energi is taking the right steps to stay ahead and solidify a continued working relationship with BSL Coal Mine.
