Digital tools can help customers run more efficient, productive, safe and sustainable operations. Transtone SA has transformed its quarrying operation with Connected Map and Performance Indicator from Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE).

Transtone SA has been managed by Oliver Scutenaire and Dominique Lesage since 2004. At its quarry in Belgium, the company loads and transports rock from the quarry face to the crusher. To help manage operations, they introduced Volvo CE’s Connected Map and Performance Indicator – and the results have been transformational, optimizing efficiency, reducing fuel consumption, and enhancing safety on-site.

Volvo CE’s services have delivered remarkable improvements in efficiency, fuel consumption, and safety. There is a smoother flow of traffic, leading to enhanced production. With reduced idling times, there’s a noticeable decrease in fuel consumption, significantly optimizing their operations.

Oliver Scutenaire, General Manager at Transtone SA, says “The result is a better flow of traffic, and therefore of production. This has been a game changer because the number of idlings decreases, which consequently also reduces the idling time and fuel consumption.”

Improved operator safety

For operator Jean-Claude Danheux, there are many advantages to Connected Map too, not least the safety benefits of being able to monitor the position and speed of colleagues on site via their Co-Pilot displays. This also fosters a stress-free driving experience, which contributes to increased productivity.

Connected Map and Performance Indicator provide the customer with a real-time view and control of all on-site activities, with valuable information on everything from speed and fuel consumption, to hauling cycle and tons loaded per hour. “All this information is very valuable to me,” says Oliver Scutenaire.

Instant insights for fact-based decisions

Users can effortlessly gain insights and control on-site activities remotely from any device, tablet, phone or computer. This accessibility empowers users to make informed decision based on real-time insights, improving overall operational efficiency.

Connected Map is a positioning solution that is accessible via Volvo Co-Pilot or mobile devices and provides a real-time visual oversight of the entire site operation. Performance Indicator provides a real-time visual overview of the site performance indicators for site management to help optimize efficiency and safety.
