Manitou Group has acquired the intellectual property of France-based ATN Platforms, which manufactures scissor lifts, boom lifts, spider lifts and most notably its core product range of vertical mast lifts.

As a result of the purchase, Manitou, a French producer of telehandlers, boom lifts and compact loaders, said it will extend its existing product range in a bid to accelerate its development in a fast-moving market.

ATN Platforms, which had been facing receivership since May this year, will underpin the group’s new product direction. Michel Denis, president & CEO of Manitou, said, “This is an opportunity for growth for Manitou Group.

“Our two platform production sites in Candé, Maine-et-Loire, will assemble the vertical platform models that are the result of the expertise of ATN Platforms, in order to offer our customers an even wider choice of aerial work platform solutions.”

ATN had been acquired in 2018 by the Italy-based Fassi group, after facing liquidation. Recently the company had fallen in to financial challenges again, leading to Manitou Group’s investment in ATN’s intellectual rights through the regional Commercial Court of Agen, where ATN is based.

To accompany the acquisition, Manitou Group is retaining around a dozen ATN Platform employees, who will continue to be based at the company’s France HQ in Tonneins, Lot-et-Garonne.
