Eiffage’s Q1 revenue up, but construction division down

French construction, infrastructure and energy contractor Eiffage reported an 8.3% year-on-year increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2025, reaching €5.6 billion (US$6.3 billion), but its construction division remained in a downtrend.

Revenue in the energy systems division climbed 13.9% to €1.84 billion (US$2.06 billion), boosted by recent acquisitions in Germany.

Infrastructure revenue also rose, up 12.0% to €1.96 billion (US$2.2 billion), supported by continued activity on major European projects including the UK’s HS2 high-speed rail and offshore wind initiatives.

Revenue in the firm’s contracting segment rose 9.4% to €4.7 billion (US$5.2 billion), while its concessions business – including toll roads and airports – grew by 3% to €906 million (US$1.01 billion).

Revenue in the construction division declined 3.3% to €912 million (US$1.02 billion). The company cited a 34% drop in its property development business, although this was partially offset by activity in public and commercial building projects.

The company’s order book stood at €29.7 billion (US$33.3 billion) as of 31 March 2025, up 7% compared to the same point last year. International revenue growth was particularly strong, up almost 25% overall and 19% in Europe (excluding France).

During the quarter, Eiffage completed the acquisition of German firm IFT GmbH and announced plans to acquire HSM Offshore Energy, a Netherlands-based specialist in offshore wind platforms. The latter deal remains subject to regulatory approval.

Eiffage added that in 2025 revenue is expected to increase in all divisions for contracting.
