Wroclaw stadium contract awarded
12 May 2009
Acciona's Polish subsidiary Mostostal Warszawa has won the contract to construct the 40000-capacity Wroclaw (Poland) municipal stadium as part of a consortium including Mostostal's subsidiary Wrobis, Greece's J&P Ajax and design firm MCD.
The new stadium is one of several to be built for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, which will be hosted jointly by Poland and Ukraine.
The contract is worth PLN 730 million zlotys (€ 166 million).
The stadium features a steel-ring with a Teflon-coated glass fibre mesh surrounds the whole exterior, which is designed to give the stadium a "light and translucent look."
