World Cup stadium progress

Construction work on four of the stadiums to be used in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil are more than 70% complete as of the end of August, according to Brazilian construction equipment trade association Sobratema. The most advanced are Castelão Stadium in Fortaleza (87%), Mineirão stadium in Belo Horizonte (78%), Estadio Nacional Mané Garrincha in Brasilia (72%) and Fonte Nova stadium in Salvador (70%).

These four stadiums, along with Maracaná in Rio de Janeiro (66% complete) and the 52% complete Arena Pernambuco in Recife are also scheduled for use in the 2013 Federations cup, to be held between 15 and 30 June.

Of the other venues, the new Corinthians stadium in São Paulo, which is due to host the World Cup opening ceremony is 49% complete. Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá stands at 47%, Arena da Baixada in Curitiba is at 45%, as is Arena da Amazonia in Manaus. Least advanced is the Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre (33%) and Arena das Dunas in Natal (30%).
