Volvo Construction Equipment chose Bauma 2016 in Munich, to introduce a new 90 tonne-class crawler excavator and 55-tonne ADT.

At a press conference on day two of the show, the company’s president, Martin Weissburg, said, “Volvo CE is changing and responding to tough and changing market conditions. We are focusing our investments on products and solutions where we can add real value to our customers and where there is future growth.”

One such investment comes in the shape of the EC950E, the company’s largest ever crawler excavator, available in less regulated markets and boasting a high bucket capacity, powerful performance and durability.

The new, 55tonne-capacity A60H was also showcased in Munich. Volvo CE’s largest articulated hauler is designed for heavy hauling in severe off-road conditions, and offers heavy-duty front and rear frames for maximized uptime.

In total, Volvo launched 16 products at the show, along with a new generation of machine control systems.

As it simultaneously announced integration agreements with technology firms Trimble and Topcon, Volvo CE also showcased its new on-board display, Co-Pilot. Designed for use across a range of machines, Co-Pilot is a tablet-based system designed to deliver a intelligent machine services, such as Load Assist, Dig Assist, Compact Assist and Pave Assist.

Mr Weissburg said, “We continue to be leaders in the industry. We continue to transform the company and the organisation.”
