Vinci Construction has acquired two family-run public works companies in North America, bolstering its road works operations in the northeastern US and Canada
In the USA, Vinci announced it has acquired Newport Construction, which specialises in road works and small-scale civil engineering projects, operates in the south of New Hampshire and Massachusetts (primarily in the Boston region).
The company, which employs 240 people and generated revenue of US$115 million in 2023, owns a quarry with nearly 50 million tonnes of materials and an asphalt plant.
In Canada, Vinci said it had also acquired Entreprises Marchand & Frères (EMF), another road building company operating in central Quebec and the Baie-James area.
EMF, which employs 220 people and generated revenues of CAD$74 million (US$54m) in 2023, also owns three asphalt plants, nine quarries – representing nearly 20 million tonnes of materials reserves - and two sand quarries.
Vinci said the two acquisitions will bolster its geographic and operational position in North America, a region which it described as having “considerable potential for growth in mobility infrastructure.”
In 2023, VINCI Construction generated more than €4 billion in revenue through its North American operations and employed a total workforce of 9,500 people.
