Contractor Bouygues has sold its 16.7% stake in road concessions company Cofiroute to Vinci for between €780 million and €800 million.

Bouygues road building subsidiary Colas is selling the shares, which are being purchased by Vinci subsidiary Vinci Autoroutes. Cofiroute operates 100km of motorways in western France and the A86 Duplex tunnel in the Paris region.

Scheduled for completion at the latest on 31 January, 2014, the transaction will be based on operational assumptions for the 2014 to 2015 period.

Romania contract

Meanwhile, Vinci in consortium with Strabag and Aktor has been named the preferred bidder for a road concession contract in Romania.

The Romanian Ministry of Transport & Infrastructure, represented by CNADNR (Romanian National Company of Motorways & National Roads), awarded the 29 year public private partnership.

The project covers the 54km Comarnic to Brașov section of the A3 Bucharest to Brașov motorway. The work includes the construction of three major interchanges, 39 bridges and three dual-tube tunnels with a total length of 19.4km.

Vinci owns 37.5% of the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance contract, Strabag 37.5% and Aktor 25%.

The A3 motorway, which crosses the Carpathian Mountains, is the main artery linking Bucharest and Transylvania with Hungary and Western Europe.
