VIDEO: Bauma China 2012 review
05 December 2012
Chris Sleight, editor of International Construction magazine looks back at this year’s Bauma China exhibition, highlighting some of the key products and trends from the show.
China’s crane manufacturers continue to put out machine’s with staggering lifting capacities. Machines on show at Bauma China included a 2,000 tonne capacity AT crane from Zoomlion, and 800 tonne capacity truck-mounted lattice boom crane from XCMG and an enormous 3,600 tonne capacity crawler crane from Sany.
There was also a clear move towards machines powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Chenggong, Liugong, Lovol and SDLG had wheeled loaders on display, while XGMA showed an LNG-powered excavator. LNG is said to offer significant savings in fuel costs of over diesel, and also produces fewer emissions.
Many international manufacturers meanwhile used the show to roll-out products designed and built in China for the Chinese market. These included a new DTH drill rig from Sandvik, a wheeled loader from Volvo, access platforms from Genie and JLG as well as a new Perkins engine and Dana driveline components.
