Vbu, a german subsidiary of Vinci, is Europe's largest demolition contractor according to CE's sister publication, Demolition & Recycling International (D&Ri).

The company was placed sixth overall in the magazine's league table of the world's top 100 demolition contractors, with the top five places taken by US companies. The largest of these was Manafort Brothers Inc. of Connecticut, US, which had sales of US$ 170 million (€ 133 million) last year.

There were 54 European contractors in the listing, an increase from 47 the previous year.

This helped push total sales from the European contingent up almost +20% to € 760 million. However, the average revenues per European contractor only increased +4,5% from € 13,4 million per company based on 2003 figures, to just over € 14 million in this year's study.
