US Army starts construction on US$332M combat simulation training centre
29 September 2025
The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has broken ground on its US$332 million Joint Integrated Test and Training Center at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

The project, awarded to ASRC Builders-Caddell in July 2025 with a contract valued at $290 million, is the first of its kind and designed to support joint and multinational force training for the US Air Force.
The 150,000-sq-ft, two-storey facility will be built to withstand Alaska’s extreme cold weather conditions. Key elements include 11 simulator rooms, briefing rooms, mission operation centres, a central server room, and storage, all configured to support high-level mission planning, briefing, execution, supervision and debriefing.
“This ultramodern facility and the servicemembers that will execute its missions and operations will usher in a new era of military readiness,” said Col. Jeffrey Palazzini, USACE district commander, at a groundbreaking ceremony on September 22.
The project presents significant work for structural, MEP, and specialised communications contractors, with heavy focus on cold-climate construction, mission-critical electronics infrastructure, and high-security facilities.
