Speaking at a press conference at the White House on Wednesday, President Trump said the government is terminating projects that “we never wanted.”

He said, “The project in Manhattan, the project in New York, it’s billions and billions of dollars that Schumer has worked 20 years to get. It’s terminated.”

The move follows broader action by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT), which has frozen nearly $18 billion in federal funding for the Hudson River project and Second Avenue Subway while reviewing whether the state’s contracting practices comply with constitutional requirements.

No confirmation was given during the press conference on whether the Second Avenue Subway project has also been cancelled.
