Trevi Group is to supply Saipem with drilling rigs

Trevi Group, through its subsidiary Drillmec, has been awarded a € 100 million contract to supply oil drilling equipment to Saipem.

The deal involves the construction and testing of two 2238 kW rigs to be sited on artificial islands in Kazakhstan. The rigs have been ordered so that Saipem can further develop the Kashagan oil field in the northern part of the Caspian Sea.

A spokesperson from Trevi said, "The rigs will be constructed in Podenzano, Italy, in a dedicated 50000 m2 area, and we expect to deliver both rigs within 12 months."

This latest order follows Trevi's recent supply of on-shore drill rigs to Saipem for use in the Val d'Agri oil field in Italy.
