German supermarket chain Lidl has called on contractors to sign up to a series of events as it plans to open hundreds of new stores in Great Britain.

It said the events in Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Southampton would aim to forge new relationships while also allowing it to engage with existing partners.

Hosted by members of the Lidl GB property and construction teams, the events will provide contractors with the chance to learn about opportunities to work with Lidl, while gaining insight into the discounter’s structure, processes and requirements.

The event comes as Lidl has published a ‘wish list’ of locations it wants to open new stories in, including major cities like Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, and London.

Lidl claims to have been the fastest-growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket in the UK for the past 10 months. This year marks 30 years since the opening of its first stores in the country. Its market share has now reached 8.1%, a high for the company in Great Britain.
