Sunbelt Rentals’ Al Halvorsen, vice president - Environmental, Social and Governance, has joined the speaker lineup for this year’s ALH Conference, Sept. 29 in Chicago. Before joining Sunbelt Rentals, Halvorsen spent more than 20 years in the field of environmental sustainability for PepsiCo and Frito Lay North America, which resulted in the formation of the ESG team.

At Sunbelt, Halvorsen has worked with a team to create what the company calls its ‘35 by 30’ plan, which includes reducing its carbon emissions by 35 percent per dollar of revenue off a 2018 baseline by 2030.

“Responsible sustainability has always been important to [Sunbelt and parent company Ashtead,] but now we are embedding it formally into our strategy for the benefit of our people, customers, suppliers, communities and investors as well as optimising the structural benefits ESG brings to rental,” the company said in its 2021 annual report.

In addition to reducing its carbon intensity by 35 percent by the year 2030, Sunbelt is also focusing on a shorter-term goal to reduce carbon intensity by 15 percent by 2024.

Halvorsen joins Dinolift’s Managing Director and IPAF President Karin Nars who will also be presenting on ESG at the ALH Conference with a focus on the social aspect of ESG.

The 2022 ALH Conference is this year’s only access and rental industry-dedicated event in North America. It will be held at the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel on Sept. 29 following IPAF’s Innovate workshop on Sept. 28. For those looking to attend both events, a discount code for registration is available from either IPAF or ALH. Contact your representative for more information.
