Engineering construction company Fluor has announced revenue of US$12.4 billion in its financial results for 2021, with full year new awards at US$8.8 billion compared to US$7.5 billion a year ago.

Consolidated segment profit for the year was US$374 million compared to US$333 million in 2020, although net income from continuing operations resulted in a loss of US$144 million for 2021.

Fluor company guidance for 2022 assumes increased opportunities for new awards across all segments and continued progress on its cost optimisation program.

“Over the last 12 months the company has made tremendous progress on executing our strategy to build a better future,” said David Constable, chief executive officer of Fluor.

“With a strengthened capital structure and a renewed focus on the key markets we serve, we ended 2021 on a positive note and are starting 2022 by building on this encouraging momentum.”

Industry experts are predicting a strong 2022 for the construction sector – the CEO of AECOM recently said that a, “global infrastructure investor renaissance is beginning,” during the company’s first quarter 2022 conference call in which they announced operating income had increased by 19%.

Fluor recently announced that chief executive officer, David Constable, had been appointed by the board of directors to succeed Alan Boeckmann, current Fluor executive chairman, as chairman.
