Strabag lands Polish motorway project
27 August 2015
Strabag has won the contract to build a 15km stretch of the A1 motorway in Poland between Woźniki and Pyrzowice.
The PLN496 million (€118 million) contract comprises the construction of the concrete motorway as well as one maintenance facility, two rest stops, 29 bridge structures and several wildlife crossings within a period of 30 months. It also covers the rehabilitation of some existing municipal and district roads.
“The construction of this section of the A1 is of priority for the region. It combines the northern part of the country with the south as well as the cities of Silesia with Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice”, said Strabag CEO Thomas Birtel.
The section is due to be opened to traffic in mid-2018. It will mark the completion of another portion of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
