Available in three different housings – box type, side plate and pin on type – Sandvik’s basic line breakers are easy to mount and operate.

Sandvik Mining and Construction unveiled a new basic breaker, the BA2424, during the bC India exhibition in Mumbai - the first phase of the company's strategy to spearhead the development of breakers in the Indian market.

The basic breakers feature simple designs which use fewer working parts for reduced maintenance, as well as lower ownership and operating costs.

The BA2424 is the first representative of a new range of breakers which also includes a premium model, the BR3228, featuring more sophisticated specifications for a higher performance.

"We consider India to be one of our top 10 markets globally," Sandvik president of construction Thomas Schulz said.

"The country is experiencing rapid growth, and we would like to be fully geared up to meet the market's demands. To cater for both ends of the market, we launched the basic and premium products. We know that the customer group that buys the basic product range will in time turn into a premium customer group, and we want to help them get there," he said.

However, there are no plans to start manufacturing the breakers in India as yet.

"Production is always a global decision, and we try to follow our footprint to create optimum lead times - maximum efficiency between manufacture and delivery to the customer. We have Indian assembly centres, and this structure suits us well," Mr Schulz said.

The basic breaker weighs 1617 kg and can deliver up to 525 blows per minute. It features a sealed nitrogen piston type accumulator in order to protect the hydraulic pump from pressure peaks in the breaker's hydraulic circuit during operation.

The new breakers are also available for the rental market.
