Salini Impregilo has been awarded a US$300 million contract to work on the Al Faisaliah District Redevelopment Project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Italian contractor will first tackle a $53 million refurbishment of the Al Faisaliah Mall. Salini is also tasked with the demolition of the adjacent Seyahiah buildings, to make way for the construction of a mall extension.

The work is expected to be completed in 16 months, with the mall remaining open throughout.

The deal forms part of $1.8 billion worth of contracts won by Salini so far this year. The company is also currently working on another major Saudi project, the Riyadh Metro.
