24 July 2015

The €170 million contract for the design and construction of a 20.27km section of the A1 Motorway, south of Warsaw, near the city of Katowice, Poland, has been won by the Salini Impregilo Group.

Financing for the project is partly made up of EU and partly Polish public funds.

The works will last 33 months, and include three junctions – Rząsawa, Lgota and Blachownia – four bridges, one railway bridge and 21 viaducts. The road surfacing will be entirely in concrete.

Salini said the A1 Motorway increased its order backlog in the country to over €500 million.
