Rudolph and Sletten wins $960m California children’s hospital contract

US-based construction company Tutor Perini’s subsidiary Rudolph and Sletten has been awarded a $960 million contract to build the new UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California.
The scheme involves a 277,500 sq ft hospital building with seven floors above ground and a basement, alongside a 269-space parking garage topped with a heliport. Preparatory works include demolition of three existing buildings to clear the site and the installation of a site services trailer.
Construction is due to begin this month, with substantial completion scheduled for 2031.
Rudolph and Sletten has already been providing pre-construction services on the project, which was designed by architect SmithGroup.
Rudolf and Sletten, based in Menlo Park, has five office across the state of California, specialising in the life sciences, higher education, healthcare, high-tech, and government buildings segments.
