The Scaffold & Access Industry Association’s 2023 Committee Week is scheduled for Sunday, March 12 through Thursday, March 16 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. The event is not only a great time to catch up on what the association, an OSHA Alliance influencer, is working on, but also network with other industry professionals and get trainer- and user-level training across a breadth of scaffold and access applications from SAIA University.

Committee Week is open to all SAIA members and industry professionals who are interested in becoming members. The meeting focuses on the work of the SAIA’s 12 councils: their current projects, goals, and objectives; issues facing their respective industry segments; emerging trends; and any new programs, initiatives, or activities for the coming year.

Councils and committees meeting during Committee Week include:

  • Industrial Council
  • Shoring Council
  • Plank and Platform Council
  • Supported Council
  • Suspended Council
  • Fall Protection Council
  • International Council
  • Canadian Council
  • Mast Climber Council
  • Construction Hoist Council
  • MEWP Council
  • Permanent Installation Council
  • Accredited Training Institute (ATI) Committee Meeting
  • Review and Regulatory Committee (Invitation Only)
  • Scaffolding, Shoring & Forming Institute (SSFI) Committee
  • Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) A11 – Design, Manufacturing and Performance Testing related to Scaffolding, Shoring and Forming Products and Related Components and Accessories

SAIA University (SAIAU) training courses will be offered during Committee Week, so it’s an opportunity to satisfy care of any educational, certification, or compliance requirements you might still need to meet.

The annual event is also an opportunity for members to converge face-to-face to share opinions and expertise, discuss best practices and make decisions about the association and their industry. Several program elements are built into the schedule to foster networking.

The program launches on Sunday with an interactive, eight-hour train-the-trainer workshop. It’s a hands-on approach to improving training and adult learning skills. The program reviews current training practices and helps develop instructor competence and confidence through practicing presentation skills and trying new instructional strategies and techniques in a group setting.

Starting on Monday there are SAIAU competent-person-training programs for:

  • Frame scaffold
  • System Scaffold
  • Suspended Scaffold

Course formats combine presentation, question-and-answer, hands-on component and final exams. Participants who score 70% or higher on the written exam and demonstrate competency in building scaffolding will receive a Certificate of Completion for the course and wallet card from the SAIAU Training Program. If your competent person designation is more than three years old, you can re-certify here.

Get more detailed information on the schedule of events, register for the event and for training opportunities at the SAIA Committee Week’s web site.

You can also reserve hotel rooms in the SAIA block at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. A $255 rate is available March 10, 2023, through March 18, 2023.
