Pakistan approves infrastructure projects

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of Pakistan is reported to have approved 24 development projects worth approximately PKR 19.6 billion (US$169 million).

A further 12 projects worth PKR 781 billion (US$6.7 billion) have been referred to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further proceeding.

The projects presented for approval included many different areas, with construction one of the main sectors.

Projects approved include the construction of an auditorium hall at Pakistan Marine Academy, the extension of presidential flats and construction of joint intelligence directorate in the National Counter Terrorism Authority Headquarters.

The projects that have been referred to ENCEC include an improvement of Pakistan Railways existing main line, dualisation of the Mardan Sawabi Road and the construction of a Peshawar-Torkham motorway.
