An investment of US$ 189 million will be required to fund the construction and operation of a new tollroad in Mexico, according to local media reports.

The Mexican branch of Spain's OHL has won the 30-year concession to construct and operate the tollroad in the north of Puebla city, the Puebla state capital, news reports state.

The project involves building a 32 km, four-lane highway for traffic from Mexico City to Puerto de Veracruz, in Veracruz state, OHL said in a statement. Puebla is located an hour and half from the capital.

Reports added that construction of the highway is expected to take 24 months and accommodate an initial traffic flow of 10000 vehicles daily.

OHL's Mexican branch has been operating since 1980 and reported sales of US$ 389 million in 2007. Making it OHL's fourth most profitable operation in the world after Spain, the US and the Czech Republic.
