Vietnam: The Vietnam Railways Corporation is preparing preliminary costs and designs for passenger express routes. Construction of the VND 494 trillion (US$ 30.9 billion), 880 km network is expected to run from 2010 to 2015, reports VietNamNet Bridge.

The new routes will run between Hanoi and Vinh (280 km), Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City (400 km), Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau (100 km), and Hanoi to Hai Phong (100 km), and are expected to cost VND 493.7 trillion (US$ 30.86 billion).

A second phase of interconnecting routes is under consideration from 2016. These could include lines between Vinh and Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho, and Hanoi to Lang.
