New president for Unacea

Mirco Risi of attachments firm Simex has been elected president of Unacea (the association of Italian construction machinery manufacturers) for the next two years, taking over from Paolo Venturi who has held the position since 2014.

A new board for the association was also elected, and Unacea said that the team appointed consisted of both new faces and businessmen with long experience in the development of the sector’s industrial association.

Board members serving their first term are Giorgio Cangini of Canginibenne, Roberto Lorenzoni of Caterpillar, and Federico Pagliacci of Soilmec.

The re-elected members are Enrico Prandini of Komatsu and Paolo Salvadori of Imer Group, who will be vice presidents, as well as Enrico Santini of Fiori Group, Antonio Strati of CNH Industrial, former president Venturi of Kato-Imer, and Michele Vitulano of Indeco.

Risi said, “The turnover of our industry amounts to €2.5 billion and it employs more than 36,000 people in the related industries.

“However, our contribution in the production of technologies which improve efficiency, safety and environment compatibility is not reflected in the legislation, which actually ends up penalising the purchasing of machines and attachments of the latest generations.”

He said it would be the association’s commitment to continue to promote industry proposals to national and European institutions, for the benefit of the community and the development of the market.
