New Case D-Series motor graders include Dual Power engines
30 July 2024
Case Construction Equipment’s 836D and 856D motor graders offer many of the benefits of their C-Series predecessors, while adding new comfort features, precision and intuitive moldboard controls and powerful Dual Power engines.
The new D-Series graders can be tailored to the application with a choice of moldboard widths and extensions, an overload clutch, five-tooth ripper, additional counterweights and LED working lights. An A-shaped frame and central saddle are designed to provide optimal stability and versatility for the cutting edge.
The 836D and 856D come in two- and four-wheel-drive models. The 836D has an operating weight range of 11,701 to 12,800 kg, power rating of 102/115 kW and moldboard widths of 3,050/3,355mm. The 856D weighs from 14,976 to 16,650 kg, is rated 129/142kW and has moldboard widths of 3,350/3,665/3,960mm.
The moldboard design, with roller-mounted encapsulated slewing ring, avoids backlash and reduces wear while supporting high mechanical torque for maximum control, said Case.
The 836D and 856D are powered by a 6.7 L FPT six-cylinder, Stage V diesel engine with Hi-eSCR2 emissions technology incorporating a maintenance-free diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) with selective catalytic reduction exhaust aftertreatment. The engine is approved for use with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and other XTL synthetic fuels.
The Ergopower transmission automatically delivers smooth shifting between gears, with all-wheel-drive models offering a creep mode for compaction work. A dual power curve with automatic switching as higher transmission ratios are reached ensures maximum power is available as travel speed increases, Case explained.
A low-profile ROPS/FOPS cab includes full-width tinted glazing and a clear view to the front and at the moldboard. Inside the cab, a choice of mechanical levers or electrohydraulic joystick controls are available.
The electrohydraulic system includes three-axis joysticks built into multi-adjustable armrests. The joysticks are equipped with multiple roller switches and buttons to control various machine functions. They also provide accurate control of all moldboard operation, comfort steering options and TwinLift control for control of both lift cylinders from a single joystick.
A heated and air suspension seat is standard, along with a new touchscreen display for access to all machine and maintenance information and for use as a monitor for the rear-view camera. This customizable screen is located on top of a redesigned front console. A second console on the right-hand side of the cab incorporates the ignition key, new electronic hand throttle, cupholder and USB charging ports.
The D-Series graders come ready to install most popular plug-and-play machine control systems to further boost productivity. A range of connected and non-connected after-sales solutions are also available.
