Spanish company Morillo Energy Rent recently deployed four HiLight B5+ lighting towers from Atlas Copco at the eleventh edition of the Extreme Sports Barcelona sporting event.

Morillo Energy Rent, which has been in operation for over 60 years and specialises emergency construction, telecom, naval and events equipment from 14 branches across Spain.

It supplied the emergency lighting towers to illuminate the main sporting stages at Forum’s park for the Extreme Sports event, which saw international scooter, skate and BMX athletes compete.

Jordi Casas, Project Manager Events at Morillo Energy Rent, said, “Atlas Copco’s portable light towers were used as a temporary solution to increment visibility for the main stages during night hours”.

“We connected four HiLight B5+ to the power grid, which became a very sustainable solution.

“It allowed us to minimize environmental impact, reducing carbon footprint, NOx and CO2 emissions and, of course, noise levels”.

Described as “ultra quiet”, Atlas Copco’s HiLight B5+ model can be used in areas with noise restrictions, such as on urban sites and can also withstand harsh weather conditions.

When asked why the model was chosen for Extreme Sports Barcelona, Casas said, “We chose these light towers because of the great versatility and light coverage they have to offer”.

Earlier this year Morillo Energy Rent expanded its fleet of the HiLight model to 23 units, following positive feedback from its customers. It also purchased three QAS5 power generators from Atlas Copco.

Miguel Ángel Artiel, Technical Director at Morillo Energy Rent, said, “Atlas Copco lighting equipment is highly-efficiency and offers reinforced floodlights that are suitable for sporting events and illuminate large areas.

“We highly consider their compact dimensions, which allows us to reduce transportation costs and time of installation.

Artiel added, “They also come with start-stop function, which is great for applications that do not need a light source all the time.”

Morillo Energy Rent has also previously supplied the HiLight B5+ light towers’ to other major sporting events, including the Moto GP and F1 Grand Prix racing events
