Milan regeneration starts

01 May 2008

One of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe is currently underway in Milan, Italy.

Over 100 projects, valued at € 25 billion, will cover 10 million m2 of land in the city centre and suburbs. Half the city centre projects involve the creation of green spaces.

The 'City Life. A project for Milan' redevelopment of Milan Fairgrounds (exhibition halls and related infrastructure) will create three towers (shown), a Museum of Design, piazzas, fairground and residential areas on 255000 m2 of land.

Architects involved in the project include Zaha Hadid, Arata Isozaki, Daniel Libeskind and Pier Paolo Maggiora.
